Asheville, NC Meeting?
This is such a pot town, I have to think a group would grow exponentially once word got out. The only M.A. mtg listed in NC is in Raleigh.
Just because it's popular & there are medical & other "legalize it" proponents around doesn't mean there aren't those silently self-identifying as addicts among us. In fact, I have to assume that the more "fashionable" it is, the more addicts there are automatically - it's just going to be a proportion of the population of users.
I would attend loyally. Just to connect with another clean pothead in the program in person would be great. I know there is AA and NA. But as the book indicates about the very founding of MA, and as I've heard from other recovering potheads today, weed smokers can feel dismissed, or the addiction can be undervalued being surrounded by narcotic addicts self-prescribing "MJ Maintenance" etc. One person suggested showing up at NA and just not identifying your substance. But I want to identify, and to be in a peer group that understands directly the subtleties of MJ addiction as distinct from others.
I'm not new to the concepts of addiction & recovery but technically am new to the program itself, so I don't think I'm the guy you want trying to lead a meeting. But my god, if ever there was a city where this would thrive, it is Asheville...
