MA Meeting Starter Kit Requests

#0, by anonymous1016740, 02 July 2010 04:59 PM

A starter kit contains everything you need to start a meeting of Marijuana Anonymous. So that we can better help you to start a meeting, please complete the New Meeting Application online. All the information you provide will be kept confidential.

Starting an MA meeting carries with it a lot of responsibilities, including: finding a location for the meeting; negotiating a weekly or monthly rent for the meeting; letting the surrounding community know that a MA meeting is starting; and attending the meeting weekly, at least until it gets off the ground. We can provide you with ideas for all of the above, but the majority of the work is yours to do.

You don't have to be clean and sober for any set length of time to start an MA meeting, but you do need to be clean from marijuana.  We also suggest you be sober from  alcohol and all other mind altering chemicals. If you are very newly sober, starting a meeting can be a daunting proposition; especially if there are no other MA meetings in your area. You may want to consider attending other 12 Step meetings to learn more about the program and to build up some sobriety time before you try to start a meeting yourself.

If you have any questions or concerns about starting an MA meeting, please contact:

One addict helping another is a fundamental part of our program, so please don't hesitate to ask for help if you need it.

Welcome to the MA family!

This interests me very much as I have not been able to find MA anywhere remotely close to where I live on the far NW tip of Washington.  I would love to encourage a new meeting to get going and I am pretty sure their would be a ready membership that are using AA like I am to meet their need to get clean and sober.  I am however 11 months clean and sober as of yesterday and this would be a daunting and perhaps too exciting of a task to start out on though it is a challenge I could forsee in the future perhaps not too too far down the road.  Maybe with some further mentorship this could happen in my community! :)  Thank you for this service!!
